Hmmm… so many memories, and I can’t even pick one. My favorite city will always be Paris, because it’s like my second home. You can get your hair braided, weaved, what have you–at the Strousbourg-St. Denis Station in the north of the city center. There is a section of Africans and Arabs called Barbes, where I can find the coolest spices and fragrances for really cheap. If you are hanging out and are kinda broke, go to Belleville, which is like a chinatown in Paris. You can find supercheap and delicious Vietnamese, an Indian restaurant corridor, freshly roasted chicken, and cheaper groceries and everyday knick-knacks. There are also alot of African dance teachers who hold class in that area. The best open-air food market is the Algerian Market in Bastille (Marché D’Aligre). It has the best prices, the biggest range of fruit, and the liveliest vendors and visitors. The best-priced market for vintage clothing is the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil. Take the Metro to the end of the line at Montreuil, and you will find brand new 1 euro french panties and bras,50 cent vintage clothing by the bins, 2 euro shoes, and tons of other items for the offbeat fashionista. At the St-Ouen Markets, get there early, and you grab fashionable steals. Make sure to walk all the way to the end of the market, past all of the cheap ghetto-fabulous sportwear, and you find a rouge’s market full of great finds if you have a sharp eye. I once found a REAL Louis Vuitton medium-sized satchel and bargained it down to 8 euros! And it is certified real! You will also found excellent-condition 15 euro vintage dresses and costume jewelry. Come with the heart to bargain, and start really early. I could go on, and on, and on, and on…..
