Beaches, Museums, Theme Parks…so overdone!
For an alternative, semi-educational, and socially concious vacation alternative, try Parque Eco Alberto, an illegal immigrant “border-crossing experience” theme park.
The eco-park is communally owned by the Hñahñu Indians who live on some 3,000 acres of land in the state of Hidalgo, about three hours northwest of Mexico City (and roughly 700 miles from the border).

So, apparently you go to this park and the cost is about $18 US Dollars per person, you get a tour leader that takes you over the hills and through the brush simulating what people experience when attempting to cross the border illegally. An entire article was written about it in The New York Times (article) this is real folks!
I got the idea of this alternative vacation from a “Fellow Blogger“. So, if you ever decide to take a trip to Parque EcoAlberto or if you’ve ever been give us a shout…talk me into going!
down the hills, Mexico city is a real treat as a vacation destination. Nothing greater than an eco park to enjoy nature.
It makes me sad that this is the only thing you have tagged as Mexico City (and it’s not even in the city)!
Mexico City is an amazing place to visit, with a new wing at its airport (for you jet setters) and lots of amazing night life, music, and art (for you divas).
Check out my blog for a look at lesbian life in Mexico City. (Although, most of our travel tips apply for women in general.)
