“If it don’t fit….don’t force it!” Leave it at home!
American Airlines reported last week that starting June 15, 2008 they will begin charging $15 for your 1st piece of checked luggage. This comes on the tailwinds of them following suit with other airlines who began charging $25 for the 2nd piece of checked luggage earlier this year. However, if you go against the grain, are traveling at the last minute and have somehow been suckered into paying for a full fare ticket you are exempt from this rule because face it, you have already paid the $25 fee! It also doesn’t apply if you are apart of their elite frequent flier program or if you are a military member traveling “with orders”.
The only airline who has remained true to their original format is Southwest Airlines. They are not passing on the ridiculous cost of gas to you the consumer. At least not in the form of baggage fees and preferential seating….not yet. So if Southwest Airlines is going your way, I strongly suggest you check them out first!
