A couple in England pulls off a huge scam in England!! (Scam is my word.)
The Milner’s booked a 15 week cruise on the Cunard Cruise Lines – Queen Elizabeth ship. Six weeks into the cruise they leave and demand their money back because they were “stressed” out. Apparently in several attempts to remedy their dissatisfaction, the cruise line gave the couple several upgrade eventually landing them in the penthouse suite with a butler.
So what happens when you’re never satisfied??
You leave in a huff, demand a refund on the remainder of the cruise and then sue for damages.
Why do I call it a scam? Let’s see.
The 15-week cruise was a little over $100,000 – yes, 6 digits.
You leave in 6 weeks and get a refund of $80,000 for the remainder of the trip.
You sue for damages and are awarded $36,310.
Cost to the couple for 6 weeks in luxury – $0! As a matter of fact they made a profit for sure.
I went online to Cunard Cruises in an attempt to price a cruise like the Milner’s and this is what I came up with.
The Full World Cruise from NYC – NYC – January 12th, 2010 through April 29th, 2010.
I for one can not believe that someone would choose to be on a ship this long, however the cruise touches almost EVERY point of this world – that’s kinda cool.
Cruise Path:
NYC – Ft. Lauderdale – Grand Caymon – Colombia – Acapulco – San Francisco – Hawaii – Samoa – Fiji – New Zealand – Australia (HUGE country you’re here for 12 days) – Malaysia – China – Vietnam – Thailand – India – Oman – Dubai – Jordan – Egypt – Greece – England – NYC
That my friend is a lot of traveling in a little less than 4 months.
Cost:
Inside Cabins from $22,871 per person
(who can be without a window that long??)
Oceanview Cabins from $26, 285 per person
Balcony from $30,198 per person
Suites from $62,666 per person
Penthouse from $101,644 per person
Grand Suite (top of the line) from $247,042 PER PERSON!!
That is a helluva lot of money. Depending on your level this can include certain shore excursions, hotel stays, on land meals, cocktail parties, and activites.
I surely doubt that the cruise was that stressful. Did they get tired of each other? I’m sure.
I wonder if I tried that would I get away with it? Ha ha, nope.
