Thrifty Rental Car has the deal of the century for anyone driving to one of 9 airports in Florida from certain U.S. cities.

The car rental company is offering the rock-bottom-rate of $1 per day for renters willing to pick up the car at Houston Hobby, Houston International, Corpus Christi, Boston, Burlington, or Providence airports and drive to Florida before November 15th.

So you have a few days to jump on this if you’re headed south for the winter.

My favorite, Forbes Traveler, always puts together the best lists! In the holiday spirit, I bring you their Best 4th of July Fireworks.

Columbus, Ohio. Downtown, along the Scioto River.
New York, New York. Best locations: between 10th and 24th streets and by South Street Seaport.
Atlantic City, New Jersey. Best viewed between hotels, Borgata and Harrah’s, right next to The Water Club.
Boston, Massachusetts. Along the Charles River.
Sea World – San Antonio, Texas. On Water Ski Lake.
Mt. Rushmore – Keystone, South Dakota.Fireworks bursting from the heads of George, Thomas, Abe and Teddy. What more can you ask for?
Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Considers itself to be the “largest synchronized fireworks display west of the Mississippi”.
Seattle, Washington. On Lake Union.

VIVA el CINCO DE MAYO! Top 5 U.S. Celebrations

The 5th of May is not Mexican Independence Day, but it should be! And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday, but it should be. On the morning of May 5, 1862 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City in a fight for freedom and liberty!

This marks the 156th year! So on this Cinco de Mayo let us tell you where the top 5 celebrations are happening!

Cinco de Mayo Celebrations in the USA

1) Denver, Colorado – lasting two days, the Cinco de Mayo Celebrate Culture Festival attracts 400,000 people. Hear live Mexican regional, Spanish rock, Latin jazz, salsa, ranchero, Tex-Mex, and Chicano rock music outdoors.

2) Chicago, Illinois – Douglas Park draws as many as 200,000 people to its colorful Cinco de Mayo celebration that includes a festival, musical events, food booths, games, kids area, and cultural displays.

3) San Antonio, Texas – Cinco de Mayo festival with music and food, concerts and other commemorations takes place at historic Market Square.

4) San Marco, Texas – this Cinco de Mayo celebration of culture includes Miss Cinco de Mayo and Little Miss Cinco pageants, a parade, and salsa/hot sauce contest, a statewide menudo cookoff, and lots of musical entertainment.

5) San Diego, California – there’s live Cinco de Mayo entertainment at Bazaar del Mundo in Old Town and a maracas-and-margaritas Cinco de Mayo blow-out in Gaslamp.

Personally I will celebrating Cinco de Mayo right here in St. Louis…didn’t know we had those types of celebrations did you? Fooled you.
